Join Pueblo Grande Museum and over 100 archaeological organizations in the U.S., Canada, and abroad on October 20, 2012 in celebrating the 2nd Annual National Archaeology Day.  Pueblo Grande Museum will be offering demonstrations of preservation and conservation methods used on our prehistoric Hohokam platform mound by our volunteer Mudslinging group in collaboration with the Central Arizona Society of the Archaeological Institute of America.  We will also be offering a free Archaeology for Kids program from 9am to 12pm, where children can learn about archaeology by doing a simulated excavation of a Hohokam pithouse.

National Archaeology Day, being held on October 20 in 2012 but feted throughout the month of October, is a celebration of archaeology and the thrill of discovery.  Every October the Archaeological Institute of America and collaborating archaeological organizations across the United States, Canada, and abroad present archaeological programs and activities for people of all ages and interests.  Whether it is a family-friendly archaeology fair, a guided tour of a local archaeological site, a simulated dig, a lecture or classroom visit from an archaeologist, interactive, hands-on National Archaeology Day programs provide the chance to indulge your inner Indiana Jones and be an archaeologist for the day.  Visit www.archaeological.org/NAD for more information on National Archaeology Day!
